Translations
Honestly, as much as I’ve distained clinch covers, I got a real kick out of these. All my heroes and heroines have the right hair colors and feasible clothing, and it’s kind of fun to see them depicted. Once again, Diego’s just too hot to share the cover with anyone. If you’re wondering, INTO HIS ARMS kept its original title. It’s even pretty recognizable, I think. FOR HER LOVE is being sold as THE CONVERTED PIRATE in the Netherlands, and NOBODY’S SAINT is A GIFT FROM HEAVEN.
So far, my books are being translated into German, Dutch, Portuguese, and Russian. Yet another thing I never once thought about before I was published. Who would have ever thought I’d go international? It might be one of the coolest things about the experience, so far (with the exception of great fan mail).
There were things I’d had reservations about that have turned out to be needless worries. I was concerned that my students would read my books and that either they or their parents would be upset. Silly me. This year I just came right out and said I was a writer, and not a single student has shown the slightest inclination to read any of my books. Several of their mothers have. Two have even told me how much they enjoyed them, and one sent NOBODY’S SAINT to her mother. I have to say that I just felt great to know that they liked what they’d read.
I spoke with both of these moms at parent-teacher conferences in the last couple of nights. Conferences are usually a good night for teachers. We see the parents of the really conscientious students or we see the parents who really care about their kids and are genuinely concerned. This is my shameless plug to tell parents to go to their children’s conferences!
Finally, on the parental note, my son went to his first debate meet last weekend and went 2 and 1. I’m very proud. Saturday, I’ll be taking my whole team (all 3 of them) to another tournament. Should be a ton of fun!

I am a translator myself and I understand your indignation that some of the
titles have been changed from original ones.
I would only point out that English words are capacious and polysemantic,
it is difficult to transmit the implication of the title into another
language using word-for-word translation and understanding that you wanted
to stress some important things we have to turn inside out the original
word combination.
To add - I am sure your books are acceptable for the general public and
there is nothing you should have worried about when understood that your
students might read your books. University teachers and professors publish
their books and the sometimes the content is more than embarrassing and
confusing and I witnessed myself – they do not worry about standing in
front of the students and even discuss the books.
