How To Fix What's Wrong With America

posted Thursday, 13 April 2006
There is a gentleman who, over the last several weeks or so, has taken to emailing his comments on my blog to me, rather than leaving comments here. He’s a moderate conservative, and we often agree on a variety of topics, although we occasionally agree to disagree. It’s all quite pleasant and civilized.

Anyway, in response to my mentioning that, as a liberal, I am inclined to vote yes on tax hikes, he mentioned that he is more inclined to vote no. I replied, “You and my husband.” My DH and I have canceled each other out at the voting booth many, many times. I also explained that the kids in the Reed household definitely get a “fair and balanced view” between their two parents.

This led to an epiphany! Here is my brilliant idea for How to Fix What’s Wrong With America: Don’t ban same-sex marriage. Ban same political affiliation marriage! Liberals must marry conservatives and vice versa. C’mon. It’s brilliant; you know it! Moderates would be permitted to marry moderates, but radicals would have to marry reactionaries. (Yes, this is all part of my diabolical plan to make everyone reasonable—bwahahahahahaha!) Guys like my friend W (http://confessionsofalibertine.blog-city.com/) would be free agents. Now, I know what you’re thinking: Unfair! The vast majority of libertines are liberal. True, but then there are the Rush Limbaughs of the world, to whom no one will stay married. It’ll all work out. Trust me.

What do y’all think?

Hehe, that's a good one! Made me smile.

Of course, I am a liberal, libertarian, libertine. I did a blog entry many moons ago to that effect.

I think although it is a good idea, it might cause some tension. I mean, this is like dating back to the old days where marriages were parent chosen, and so many problems occured. I mean, its hard enough staying in one bedroom with temperature problems but, fighting about political affiliations might stir up some more trouble Lol.

My aunt and uncle always argue on who they shoudl vote for, its quite amusing :). I enjoy going to the polls with them because Aunty calls him a stupido and He calls her a stupida, and they both are wrong...*blinks*

Ban political affiliation marriage? What's that? Really have some marriages brought out by this reason.. Hmm *rolling eyes*

I can imagine the fireworks now! Ready made arguments already built into the marriage! Of course, it might serve for people to get more informed to defend their positions.

I love this country so much. We are the best, our four fathers made us the best and we must repeat their actions. As much as I hate to say this with respect to argument, it is my belief we need to change the goverment. Not completely. We need to stop all monies being spent over seas. We need to look at other issues like giving oil tycoons large grants for what? They make more money then any other corporation. Laws need to be changed. I believe in locking up criminals that break our laws but charginging a person for bank robbery in the federal system and then the state system and having that person do twice the time is wrong as an example. Lock up the molesters for life. I say this only because it has been found they have no cure for their thinking and they will repeat in their crime. Except for murder or molestors no one gets more then 3 years the first time, 6 if they go back, 9 if they repat again, then life on the fourth time. All criminal records are hiddened except for top level security, police, or jobs that deal with goverment positions that deal with national security. Again, I love America. But enough is enough. Our politicians do not listen to the people. Our goverment has become selective to those that will follow the old ways. I want to see a politician in office who will stand up against big goverment. For those who do not know or recall but the Federal goverment at one time only meet about once every three months because the states handled the pressures and problems as it should be. This in turn makes it to where the people ran the states. Our elected officials met, voted or discussed issues and went home to run their businesses or personal affairs. Finally, hand guns need to be out lawed except for police or the military. There is no real good reason with the way things are in this country to have a hand gun in the home. For target practice? Come on. We do have the need for rifles for those hunters out there. We have found they keep the herds in balance and prevent over breeding. Finally, we have just as much oil in AMerica then overseas. We have enough as it is to last two hundred years as it is at todays usage. Lets bring the cost back down to two dollars a gallon and invest in America as we are known to be the best at.
